How is LOIS for Word licensed? LOIS for Word is licensed on a per-user basis. Access is managed at the organization level by admins. Does Microsoft 365 cover the LOIS for Word add-in? No. The Microsoft subscription does not include LOIS for Word. The Word add-in is part of the LOIS for Word product and must be approved or deployed according to your organization’s Microsoft 365 governance policies.Functionality
What file formats are supported? LOIS for Word works with.docx files. When you open a PDF in Microsoft Word, Word converts it to an editable document before review. Legacy .doc files should be converted to .docx. Formatting may vary depending on the PDF and conversion quality.
Can LOIS for Word read tracked changes?
Yes. LOIS for Word can read and analyze all tracked changes in Word documents and the date each was made, including multiple rounds of edits.
Can LOIS for Word read existing comments?
Yes. LOIS for Word can read existing comments in Word documents as well as who wrote them. Comments are used as context during review.
Can LOIS for Word generate comments?
Yes. When LOIS for Word generates redlines, it can also generate associated comments. You can set specific tones for your comments in your Profile(s).
Can LOIS for Word draft language from scratch?
Yes. LOIS for Word can draft clauses or sections from scratch, though it is most effective when working from existing templates or documents.
Can I work across multiple documents?
Yes. LOIS for Word supports workflows that involve reviewing, comparing, and analyzing more than one document.
Is the tool more helpful for simpler agreements like NDAs, or can it tackle more complex and much longer agreements?
The tool is most helpful for simpler agreements but it can also handle more complex and longer agreements. The more complex the agreement, the more you have to prompt.
Can the AI directly trigger reviews from email?
LOIS for Word has an email integration that allows users to forward an email for analysis. You’ll receive a redlined contract with a summary of outstanding issues by email.
