LOIS for Word uses Filevine authentication for both the web app and Word add-in. Microsoft 365 controls whether the add-in is available in Word, while Filevine controls who can sign in and access the product.

Sign in with Filevine

Users sign in with the Filevine credentials associated with their provisioned account. Firms that use a third-party single sign-on provider may see a different sign-in flow after entering their email address. The same account provides access to:
  • The LOIS for Word web app
  • The Word add-in
  • The organization and role assigned to the user

User access and roles

User access is managed in two places:

Filevine Account Manager

Filevine account admins use Account Manager to:
  • Invite new users
  • Provision existing Filevine users for LOIS for Word
  • Assign the LOIS for Word product to a user
Being a LOIS for Word Admin does not grant permission to provision new users.

LOIS for Word

LOIS for Word Admins use the Users page to:
  • Change a user’s LOIS for Word role
  • Remove a user’s access to LOIS for Word
Removing access to LOIS for Word does not remove the user from other Filevine products. For role definitions and detailed instructions, see Manage users.

Microsoft 365 add-in deployment

Microsoft 365 controls deployment of the Word add-in, not authentication or product provisioning. Depending on your organization’s policies, users can install the add-in themselves or a Microsoft 365 administrator can deploy it through Integrated Apps. Deployment administrators can:
  • Approve the add-in for the organization
  • Assign it to specific users or groups
  • Manage its availability in Microsoft Word
