> Answers to common questions about LOIS for Word, including pricing, licensing, Microsoft 365 compatibility, security, and triggering reviews from email

## Pricing and access

**How is LOIS for Word licensed?**

LOIS for Word is licensed on a per-user basis. Access is managed at the organization level by admins.

**Does Microsoft 365 cover the LOIS for Word add-in?**

No. The Microsoft subscription does not include LOIS for Word. The Word add-in is part of the LOIS for Word product and must be approved or deployed according to your organization's Microsoft 365 governance policies.

## Functionality

**What file formats are supported?**

LOIS for Word works with `.docx` files. When you open a PDF in Microsoft Word, Word converts it to an editable document before review. Legacy `.doc` files should be converted to `.docx`. Formatting may vary depending on the PDF and conversion quality.

**Can LOIS for Word read tracked changes?**

Yes. LOIS for Word can read and analyze all tracked changes in Word documents and the date each was made, including multiple rounds of edits.

**Can LOIS for Word read existing comments?**

Yes. LOIS for Word can read existing comments in Word documents as well as who wrote them. Comments are used as context during review.

**Can LOIS for Word generate comments?**

Yes. When LOIS for Word generates redlines, it can also generate associated comments. You can set specific tones for your comments in your Profile(s).

**Can LOIS for Word draft language from scratch?**

Yes. LOIS for Word can draft clauses or sections from scratch, though it is most effective when working from existing templates or documents.

**Can I work across multiple documents?**

Yes. LOIS for Word supports workflows that involve reviewing, comparing, and analyzing more than one document.

**Is the tool more helpful for simpler agreements like NDAs, or can it tackle more complex and much longer agreements?**

The tool is most helpful for simpler agreements but it can also handle more complex and longer agreements. The more complex the agreement, the more you have to prompt.

**Can the AI directly trigger reviews from email?**

LOIS for Word has an email integration that allows users to forward an email for analysis. You'll receive a redlined contract with a summary of outstanding issues by email.

## Playbooks and review standards

**Can we bring our own playbooks?**

Yes. Existing playbooks can be used as inputs to guide review behavior.

**What if we don't have a playbook today?**

Many teams start without formal playbooks. Playbooks can be built from templates and historical redlines during structured working sessions.

**What documents are best for creating playbooks?**

Templates and early-stage redlines showing your team's preferred responses are ideal. Fully negotiated agreements are less useful without context on why specific language was accepted.

**Can playbooks be updated over time?**

Yes. Playbooks are meant to evolve as contract positions, risk tolerance, and business needs change. AI will suggest changes to your playbooks based on your negotiation patterns.

## Research and analysis

**Can LOIS for Word perform legal research across the web?**

Yes. LOIS for Word supports legal research workflows that retrieve and synthesize information from the web, with citations where applicable.

**Does LOIS for Word rely on external data sources during research?**

When research is performed, LOIS for Word may retrieve publicly available information and surface it with references.

## Training and onboarding

**Do you provide recorded demo or training videos?**

Training is primarily delivered through live walkthroughs to ensure teams see the most current product behavior. Sessions are often recorded and shared after the fact.

**How long does onboarding typically take?**

Most teams are productive within weeks. Initial onboarding typically includes a kickoff, a small number of live training sessions, and periodic check-ins.

## Privacy and security

**Will counterparties know that LOIS for Word was used?**

No. Documents do not include any indicator that LOIS for Word was used. All changes and comments appear as authored by the user.

**Is content shared between users?**

Content is scoped to your organization and governed by your access controls.
